Aslam Merchant has had a distinguished career in Information Technology. He provided IT consulting for major International oil & gas and oil field service companies. He developed IT strategies, master plans, and funding packages for large IT projects. Currently, he is involved in launching a FinTech based wealth management company.
Aslam maintains a financial blog and has written and presented many technical papers. He is an active speaker on technical, religious, and social topics and has delivered talks in various countries. He is also an active philanthropist and has served at board and committee chair level in organizations like ICNA, ISGH, IEIT, and Shifa Healthcare in Houston.
Aslam holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, with University Honors, and an MBA, both from the University of Houston. He has a Diploma in Arabic from the Language Institute, Doha, Qatar and Post Graduate Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance from IIBI London.
Aslam had obtained merit positions in matric and intermediate Karachi Board. He was active in CMS Boy Scouts, achieved Quaid-e-Azam Scout, served as Scout Master and attended to two national jamborees.
