Dr. Altaf Hashmi is a CMS Alumnus and co-Founder of the Karachi CMS Alumni Group. He has been associated with SIUT since 1980 when he joined as house surgeon after completing his medical education. He did his MS in Urology from the University of Karachi and has been trained at St. Bartholomew Hospital and Institute of Urology, University College, UK. He also got training in Uro-Oncology and Renal Transplantation at Hospital Tenon and Pitie-Selpetriere Hospital, Paris. Presently he is working as Professor of Urology at SIUT. Besides general urology his special field of interest is renal transplantation and Uro-Oncology. He is the supervisor and examiner of the postgraduate training program of FCPS Urology and he is also involved in teaching and training of medical technologists. He is a member of several national and international professional associations including MESOT, AST, TTS. He has been the General Secretary of Pakistan Association of Urological Surgeons. At present he is the President Elect of the Transplantation Society of Pakistan. He has contributed over 60 publications in national and international medically indexed journals.
